Oooooooooooooooooh!  I’m so excited.  The Pistols are playing The Office on 16 September.  It’s not the real Sex Pistols, obviously.

But they are a damned good tribute band from London.  And at only £7.50 it’s very good value for an excellent night out!

The warm up act is Shaun Hogg who supposedly is into punk and ska, but I have to admit, I’ve not heard of him.  Has anyone out there?

Hey, have you heard there’s a move afoot to get a MAJOR music fesitval happening here next summer?  Douglas Council has approved the idea, in principle.  If it goes ahead we’ll have about 35,000 people visiting our fair isle next summer to see such top music acts as U2, Coldplay, Arctic Monkey at our very own music festival.  I’m soooooooooooooooo excited. You can click here to register your interest in getting tickets and here to see who is in the running to appear.  Come on everyone!  Show your support for the fab idea!  Let’s make it happen!

Hey!  Did you know that Thursday is half-price fajita nght at Fiesta Havana on Wellington Street in Douglas?  Yup!  That means two can dine for £12.99 and the food is soooooooo yummy!  You just have to watch the number of Coronas you pour down your throat, which can run up the bill.  And the service is quick too, so we’re going in tonight before we head to the Traf for the Battle of the Bands. It’s going to be a great night out!

Can you believe we walked all the way down to the Trafalgar Hotel last night only to find the doors closed?  WTF?!?

Tuesday is Irish music night, and I thought it might be fun.  I was wearing really, really high heels too and my toes were ouchy. So you can imagine how cross I was to find all  the doors shut. 

We could hear music from the street.  Through the window I could see a guitarist strumming a tune. I guess it was a private party or something?

But what a disappointment.  And what sore  feet. I hope they let us in tomorrow night for the battle of the bands!

The other night we went down to Jaks because we’d heard Brown Sugar was playing. I thought it might be a Stones tribute band.  They turned out to be a duo covering lots of old stand bys and pop songs from different eras. The crowd really loved them and they got a really hearty party going on.  Without a doubt, the bar did really well that night because from what I could see, no one was feeling any pain.  It was an interesting night out.  Average age of the crowd was about 40.   Cougars galore.  It’s nice to see old people having soooooooooo much fun!   

Ooooooooooooooooooh we had such a fun night out on Thursday. It was the first heat of the 4th Okells Battle of the Bands at the Trafalgar Hotel in Douglas. Six acts took the stage to compete for a grand prize of a trip to the UK national battle of the bands.  It was a great group of musicians and the crowd sure was enthusiatic.  Three were put forward to the next round. Laura Moore and David Glyn Jones were both excellent singers and really rocked out.  But for me, head and shoulders above the rest was Ben Dunderdale who’s guitar playing was fantastic.  His funny song about a mouse brought the house down.  I think this guy will go the distance.  I’m hooked now. I’ll be at the next heat on 17 August.  Come on!

Yup…it's that time again. This weekend is Bushy's Big Wheel Blues Festival in Laxey.  Yipeee! Last year the weather was fab and we had such a great time.  I hope it's just as fun this year.

On Friday you can see Kevin Brown, RB Morris and Hector Qirko as well as John Hammond.

Saturday afternoon you can groove to Anna Goldsmith, Walther Ego, Stone Creation and Wicked Grin. 

Stay on through the evening to hear Backdoor Slam, Steve Clayton and Connie Lush and Blues Shooter. 

There are tons of fringe events taking place too.    There are still a few tickets available,but get them now.  See you there!
