I love soaps.  Corrie and East Enders are always must-see-TV…but a pub opera?  That’s a new one on me!

So I can’t wait till next Friday (7 July) when the BBC Philharmonic is staging not one, but three mini pub operas at The Haven, in Port Erin. With titles like Stags, Hens and Inflatable Sheep, Waitress Service–Pay at the Bar, and First Love, Last Orders...you know it’s going to be a fun night out! Each show is about 15 minutes long and it all starts at 8.30. I’m getting there early to get a good seat!

{J f, 2006}   I love John Malkovich

He is deffo one of my fave actors.  And, he’s in the Isle of Man right now! Shooting on his new movie, Mutant Chronicles, starts here tomorrow.  I luv luv luvved him in Dangerous Liaisons and in Being John Malkovich. And I hope to run into him on Strand Street.

This isn’t his first visit to the Island; he’s been here at least twice before.  Once to make The Libertine and the second time was to make Colour Me Kubrick. So he must really, really like us.

So John, here’s to seeing you in Paparazzi or maybe Crush is more to your taste?

Yesterday we went down to the Queen's Promenade to watch the first round of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Series races in Douglas Bay. It was sooooooooooooo exciting watching those speed machines streak over the waves! And after, all the boats were on display on so we could get up close and personal.  Now the bloke says he wants to buy one. I think he needs to work some overtime, if that's ever gonna happen.  🙂Honda Boat Racing

{J f, 2006}   Parish Walk

You might wonder why I'm sitting here at my blog instead of taking part in the annual Clerical Medical Parish Walk?  Wellllllllllllllllllllll there are soooooooooo many reasons. But I guess the main one is that walking 85 miles in 24 hours takes a LOT of effort. And, I was going to do it, really I was.  But, I accidently slept in till noon and was supposed to be at the National Sports Centre before nine am. So I just wouldn't have time, you know?  Anyway, more than 1,000 more energetic people are taking part this year so I'm sure no one missed me.

I hope everyone enjoyed the annual Isle of Man Walking Festival and I promise I'll do it for sure next year (if I remember to get up)!

Oooooooooooooooooh!  I just found the best little shop. Zooma Gifts is in Castletown, just across from the old House of Keys.  It's full of exotic treasures from around the world…jewellry, glassware, toys and well…you name it.  And every single item is absolutely beautiful. I bought some perfume direct from Paris and Trixie got a gorgeous Indian Raj umbrella.  Ring them on 01624 825540 to find out more.
