Isle of Man Candy

Daniel BedingfieldFor some reason, the Isle of Man is going to be subjected to Daniel Bedingfield's only concert in the Britain this year.

I know he's had lots of hits…but I soooooooooooo don't get it. He makes me want to take a nap.

Anyway the show is 25 August at the Villa Marina. Tickets are £30 and go on sale on Saturday morning.  Yawn!  I could drop off just writing about it.

Well, for a moment I felt like I was 18 anyway.  And if Alice Cooper can claim it, I sure as heck can! What a funtastic show last night at the Villa Marina.  Mr Cooper and friends took the stage shortly after nine and banged out one great hit after another until 22.40…with no interval…there is still life in the old guy yet.

It was sooooooooooo loud my ears are still ringing. The stage show was a blast featuring a great line up of ghouls and gags including a guillotine stunt and Alice's half-naked daughter (Go get some clothes on…teenagers…what's a Dad to do?)Alice#s Daughter  I thought the bass player is a 'very good musician'.

The age profile of the crowd ranged from about 10 to 60 and everyone enjoyed the show. Later, on the Prom, we took the longest-ever ride on The Waltzers… they must have spun us for 10 minutes straight. It took me half an hour to get over the dizziness.

All in all, it was a great night out at the TT Festival.  I can't think of a word that rhymes.

The Beautiful South is appearing at the Villa Marina on 16 August.  Yay!  Their album, Quench, is one of my all time faves.  I'm deffo getting tix (£32.50).  The new album, Superbi, was released yesterday.  I heard them on the Jonathan Ross Radio 2 show last week and the songs are fab.  See you all there!

{J f, 2006}   I am a material girl!

Today I get to have a tour of the Gaiety Theatre on the Prom in Douglas.  It's soooo pretty inside you can't imagine.  It's like, really really old. The tour guy says it opened in 1900…..way before colour telly.  But, the government has sunk loads of dosh into fixing it all up so it really is loverly.

Anyway, the most really exciting thing I see is a poster: "Back to the 80s!"  The Manx Operatic Society is putting on a show featuring all the those great tunes from that golden era.  Madonna, Micheal Jackson, Aha…I can't wait. The show runs from 20 -27 May and tickets are on sale now.  Get your leg warmers and scrunchi and meet me there!
