Isle of Man Candy

Oooooooooooh!  I just found out about cool programme being run by the IoM Dep’t of Tourism and Leisure.  TT Homestay sees motorsport fans being billeted with Island residents. I figure it’s a great way for people to get involved with the TT, even if they are not into bikes (like moi!). And, you can make a little dosh on the side too.

I’m gonna look into it.  www.isleofmantourism.com or ring HomeStay on 01624 686802.

"Saturday's Superbike TT saw Honda take their first win in that race, or the equivalent Formula One event, for the first time since the great Joey Dunlop triumphed in 2000."  read more from the BBC.

Mad SundayOi!  The BBC's Richard Petrie wrote a really good article about the Isle of Man TT.  It talks about how modern the festival is and why it's important. Read it!

Well, for a moment I felt like I was 18 anyway.  And if Alice Cooper can claim it, I sure as heck can! What a funtastic show last night at the Villa Marina.  Mr Cooper and friends took the stage shortly after nine and banged out one great hit after another until 22.40…with no interval…there is still life in the old guy yet.

It was sooooooooooo loud my ears are still ringing. The stage show was a blast featuring a great line up of ghouls and gags including a guillotine stunt and Alice's half-naked daughter (Go get some clothes on…teenagers…what's a Dad to do?)Alice#s Daughter  I thought the bass player is a 'very good musician'.

The age profile of the crowd ranged from about 10 to 60 and everyone enjoyed the show. Later, on the Prom, we took the longest-ever ride on The Waltzers… they must have spun us for 10 minutes straight. It took me half an hour to get over the dizziness.

All in all, it was a great night out at the TT Festival.  I can't think of a word that rhymes.

The Manx Museum's The Manx Motorcycle Heritage exhibit is sure to please TT Festival goers.  Admission is free and you can see some classic motors ridden by some of the TT's finest racers of yesteryear. While you're there, make sure you see the Social History Gallaries to learn the story of Mann.  You'll soon be speaking in the native Manx language!

The Manx Museum is in the centre of Douglas.  Ring 648000 for more information.

Yup!  It's true!  Just in time for TT Festival 2006, Basking sharks have arrived near the Isle of Man! I've heard of hammer heads, but motor heads?  There have been 25+ sightings of these creatures at the south end of the island, near Port Erin, Port St Mary and around the Calf of Man. They are harmless and kinda cute.  Let us know if you spot them!  new shark

We have more than 40,000 visitors to our island during the TT Festival and, I'm like, tons of you must be bloggers! Welcome to you all.  So I'm checking the blogosphere out to see how you like us so far. Here's what I found so far…

Here, a speed enthusiast shares his concern about some friends that were injured in a racing accident.

Here, this doctor who claims to be an award winning writer shows us all his lazy brain…I remember my English teacher telling us that steretypes are a big no no.

This guy reams SuperChannel for dropping coverage of the TT.

For peeps that want to keep up on the day's racing you can check out this guys's updates.

Nature enthusiasts posted some nice pix here.

That's just a smattering fyi.  Hope you all have loverly time. Watch out for our ferocious Manx cats. And, Keep us posted!
